Climate anxiety, or eco-anxiety, is the feeling of distress about the effects of climate change on our landscape and human existence. Often, it may also referred to as eco-grief or climate doom. The best way to reduce feelings of climate or eco-anxiety is through “Collective action” (which is the best buffer), connecting with others with similar goals and values

Program Ideas

  • Hold an environmental volunteer event through on-campus organizations such as Edible Campus and Trash Force. There are off-campus opportunities like the Annual Haw River Clean-Up-A-Thon.
  • Introduce sustainable habits with the Green Dorms Certification Survey or reinforce proper compost and recycling practices.
  • Visit green spaces on campus such as Coker Arboretum, Campus-to-Garden Trail/North Carolina Botanical Gardens or Battle Park
  • Come up with your own creative event or program.
